Sometimes, Round Two: Day 8 of 365 – The Answer Within!

Sometimes The Answer Lies Within!

Life abounds in questions! Questions about purpose and destiny. Questions about faith and the lack thereof. Questions about relationships. Questions about directions and decisions. Questions about self and others. Questions about what to do, where to go, who to trust! Questions could fill volumes!

Funny thing about questions . . . We tend to look to others for the answers to those questions. We often believe that someone other than we hold the key to the answer box. There are always people smarter, wiser and who possess more insight – at least, that’s what we believe. What if the opposite were true? What if WE possess the answers to the questions we ask?

Every first meeting with a new client, we address the topic of answers. I often say something like, “I believe that you possess everything you need to find the answers to your questions. I do not have a magic wand. I do not have the answers. My job is to work with you and help you uncover those answers for yourself.” I truly believe this! I believe that we often convince ourselves that the answers lie outside of us – in another place or person or event.

As much appeal as this perspective may carry, I believe the opposite to be true. You see, regardless of the nature of the question, Sometimes The Answer Lies Within!

Peace!

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994 and a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor since 2011. I received my BA in Sociology and Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University and my Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Texas.

I specialize in the field of loss/grief and have written, trained, and presented workshops on loss/grief since 1990. Helping clients learn to work toward reconciliation and integration of life losses is the basis of my work in this area.

My wife and I are both therapists and often work together with couples in our practice. We find that couples respond well to our co-therapist approach.
